Remember those magical 4th of July moments from ou Remember those magical 4th of July moments from our childhood? The sparkle of fireworks in our eyes, the smell of BBQ in the air, and all the fun of family gatherings

I grew up on a small dairy farm....so between chores/milking cows/field work, it worked best if all the aunts, uncles & cousins came here! I remember the uncles setting off firecrackers & us kids had "snakes" and sparklers...and of course SO much yummy food!

These pics are from last year when the grandkids were here over the 4th! It was so fun to put together!

We are blessed to live America!! Let's make this 4th of July not just a celebration of our freedom, but of the joyful, carefree spirit of childhood that we all cherish. What's your favorite 4th of July memory from your childhood?

As we grow out of childhood we completely lose the ability to see the world for what it is....a truly magical place! A place where nothing HAS to remain as what the adults say it is. We see a blanket and a chair. Your child sees a fort, a dragon, a dollhouse, etc. A stick is a horse, a weapon, a drawing tool, a boat. Our eyes become dim to what is around us. But a child sees! And it is magical for us if we can sometimes catch a small glimpse of their world as they see it!⁣

It is not enough to simply teach children to read; It is not enough to simply teach children to read; we have to give them something worth reading. Something that will stretch their imaginations- something that will help them make sense of their own lives and encourage them to reach out toward people whose lives are quite different from their own. --Katherine Paterson

Children see magic everywhere! It is why they can in one breath be talking to you about something current, and the next breath they are off in an imaginary world on a great adventure.....describing to you as though you should be able to see it too. And perhaps, if we were more like them, we would.⁣

Remember when life was so much simpler? After getting all the layers of jackets, snowpants, boots hats & mittens on you'd almost waddle outside.....and there it was. GLORIOUS fresh snow! Though it was cold, you didn't really notice. It was all about making a snow fort, or building a snowman --making paths in the snow. And of course eating some snow! Simple times with no pressures, No deadlines. No one saying HOW to play.....just you, snow & perhaps some sticks. And you come in cold with bright red cheeks, but refreshed from all the crisp air. You begin struggling to get off all the thick layers.....and maybe get dry clothes on & have a snack. It was not a good day. It was a GREAT day --with stories to be told about the snow adventure!⁣

We forget how just the simplest of things spark the grand imaginations of kids! And when they step into that imaginary world...they are creating memories of a simple, safe, wonderful time of life. And those memories are priceless. Every child deserves to have those memories.⁣
